A BRITISH LESSON TO BE LEARNED WILL ANY ONE LEARN IT?

The near wipe out of British New Labour at the UK local body elections is a good indicator of what could happen here post a ward/electorate based local body structure. Auckland would be a weather vane for our national pollies - shape up or you will be shipped out next year. Are they up to it do you think?
Another advantage of what I propose - the top polling ward councillor becomes the ward's city councillor - would be a fine proving ground for aspirant city councillors - they would have to convince the ward first - no slipping into a seat at a the top table with a nudge and a wink and on the back of a ticket with long pockets. Do the work on the ground first. Now what could be wrong with that?

MORE DAMN NOISE

Another day going by without any serious debate. Tiny turn out Grey Lynn according to StopSupercity tweeter who seems happy to go on chickenlittleing. Could somebody please start some serious debate before the inevitable turns out to be just  another cock up. King Canute was trying to make a point but the misunderstanding his metaphor provoked seems very much the point here.

Look out for it next week. Submissions close 26 June.

There will be some minor changes to the plan here and I would like to hear any suggestions you have ASAP
