MAYOR BANKS HAS A ROAD TO DAMASCUS MOMENT

FROM PETROL HEAD TO TRAIN SPOTTER
According to the New Testament Paul - no friend to Christians but later to become St Paul - had a vision on his way to Damascus, fell down blind and converted to Christianity.
On his way to the Super City Auckland's Mayor John Banks has done much the same thing. Once an ardent proponent of the monstrous Eastern Motorway and who once famously described Britomart Station as a "train barn" has come round to trains in the end.
He is proposing an underground train loop in the CBD with Britomart as a through station to unlock the city's public transport cock up. It is not his idea but he has embraced it and it is the right idea and he has got there in the end.
Let us not waste valuable time on triumphalism and U turns and all that other crap that politicians who change their minds get treated and applaud the man for finally getting it right. Better than that, lets encourage him to go to Wellington and share his new found vision with Stephen Joyce.
Right now would be good.

  1. This is a new biblical side of you I've never noticed before. Thought for the day then Hamish: "He said "Behold I stand at the door and knock, if anyone will open the door I will come in and have a loving fellowship with them." Revelation 3:20
Well, a glass of wine at least.
